My First Day

Hi Everyone! My posts are going to be a bit limited these first few days since I'm working exclusively from my phone right now. I should have full Internet access by Friday, so bear with me.

I'm in Paris, woohoo!!! I've already seen some amazing sights and settled into my apartment. I must agree with everything I've ever heard about the food here: it's incredible. I haven't even gone out to a restaurant, I've only picked up a few things at the neighborhood market, but they're so good. The bread, cheese, and butter just melt in your mouth, the wine is excellent at less than €3 a bottle, and even the stuff in the freezer section is delicious. To my foodie friends out there: please visit this city if you haven't already - you will not regret it.

I made my way here via Toronto, which ended up being an interesting experience. On the first flight and in the Toronto airport, everything was first in English and then French. On the long flight it was French first and then English. So from English only, to English-French, to French-English, to French only was a nice 12-hour transition. Besides the fact that I had to go through customs and security twice by passing through Canada on the way, I was amused by my little linguistic journey.

Well, I hope to post more soon. Enjoy these photos from the 12th arrondissement, my home base. If you can identify the fruit in the first one, let me know. The second is from the Jardin de Reuilly. In the third you see that if you can't afford a hotel in Paris, you might consider setting up a tent near the Bastille! A bientôt.
